Aina is forty-three. She has finally found everything she ever wanted: a family, a home, a quiet, comfortable life. Only one thing won't let her go — the loss of a friend who vanished without a trace thirteen years ago. While waiting for test results that will be either a release or a sentence, she returns to Kazakhstan and unexpectedly comes face to face with that very friend. Searching for answers, they set off for the city where it all began. The journey stirs up old grievances and unspoken resentments from the depths — and along with them, a forgotten friendship and shared hopes. But the closer the two friends get to the places of their childhood and youth, the less their memories agree. The same events, remembered differently by each of them — which means someone's memory is lying.
